Stuck in the Middle

asked about Cartwheel

I've been dancing for years, and saw the move here. I can get to the middle part of the lift and then, I don't know if it's fear of making the full rotation, or if I'm doing something wrong.
I start out with a powerful skip, but once I get to the middle, I freeze. It seems like my right elbow hinders me from making the rotation.
So, my question would be, how do I place my elbow?

Hey Lillian,

There are 3 different types of grip for a cartwheel:

1. Cup
2. Normal
3. Forearm

Try all three and see which one you feel most comfortable with. Top tips that I can give you:

Don't place the top hand too high (you have to get over it!)
Place your bottom hand nice and low
Be brave
You have to release the top arm at the end of the cartwheel
Squeeze your bum
Dont let your back go
Dont pike too much (keep straight)
Lift your chest at the end

Hope that helps!
Your elbow might of been feeling funny because you werent releasing that arm

Bendy
